Free Standing Air Conditioners
It doesn’t matter if you live in Florida, Texas, or the Northeast during the summers: you need to cool off. There are many ways you can reduce your heat exposure, but as you probably already know, not all methods are created equal. You could take the old fashion approach and carry a cold wet rag, or take a piece of paper and use it as a rag. But we’re in the 21st century, so unless you’re really hurting in the pockets financially, you’d want to take advantage of modern technology. That would mean getting a good quality fan or air conditioner. Air conditioners, although more expensive than fans, are more effective. Free standing air conditioners are one kind of air conditioner that’s useful. In this article, we’ll take at several free standing air conditioners at your disposal.
First of all, what is a free standing air conditioner? For one, they come with a built-in water tank, along with a water tube and drain outlet. Another feature that they have is most also have exhaust air which evaporates the water. What’s great about this feature is that you don’t have to spend unnecessary time having to take out your hands to manually empty out the water tube.
A second great benefit of free standing air conditioner is the washable filter. These air conditioners come automatically with the filter built-in, saving you from yet again, another manual process.
A third benefit of free standing air conditioners is their portability. The devices easily allow for transport from room to room. That way, you don’t have to just keep it in one room especially if another room is hot. Because they don’t weigh too much, you shouldn’t experience any problems moving them around. In fact, many of free standing AC units have wheels you can use as well.
A fourth benefit is that they don’t use a relatively large amount of energy. If you think about it, you only have to use the devices as needed, and not in rooms where they’re not needed.
Now that we have explored some of the benefits of free standing air conditioners, let’s take a look at some of the exact kinds you can buy.
Under $500
For under $500, you can get a 12,000 BTU Unit. At only 55 decibels, it’s not really loud at all. It also contains a 3-speed motor, and an exhaust window. As for its watts, it’s at 1,500.
Over $500
If you’re looking for additional features beyond the basics, then a good bet would be to check out a 14,000 BTU Unit. This one packs even more cooling and heating power than the 12,000 unit. It has a digital temperature monitor, a self-evaporating system, a window kit that automatically adjusts, odor-removing carbon filter, and dust particle-removing air filter. These are just a few features this unit has, but be prepared to spend more than $700 at least.
Free standing air conditioners in short are great if you demand cool air.
